Monkey Balls
These are usually known as monkey bread but we have been calling them monkey balls for years. Such a wonderful breakfast that the kids are sure to love! Great for birthday and/or holiday breakfasts.
Ingredients
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2-16.3 ounces Pillsbury Grand Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits
½ cup chopped pecans, if desired
2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 ½ cups butter, melted
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
2. Lightly grease a bunt pan
3. In a large plastic food-storage bag, mix the sugar and cinnamon
4. Separate the dough into 16 biscuits and cut into quarters
5. Put them in the bag and shake the bag to coat
6. Arrange in a bunt pan and then add the pecans, if desired
7. Bring the brown sugar and butter to a boil then let cool before pouring over the biscuit pieces
8. Bake 28-32 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in the center
9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then flip the pan upside down on a serving plate
10. Pull apart and serve warm
Top with cream cheese frosting if desired.
