Blonde Brownie
A great alternative for those of you who do not like chocolate.
Ingredients for Brownie
1 cup sifted flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
⅛ teaspoon baking soda
⅛ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped pecans
⅓ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tbsp. vanilla
½ cup white chocolate chips
Ingredients for Sauce
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ teaspoon maple extract
Directions for Brownies
1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nuts
2. Melt 1/3 cup butter and add 1 cup packed brown sugar to it and mix well
3. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well
4. Gradually combine the flour mixture and then stir in the white chocolate chips
5. Pour into a 9-inch square pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes
Directions for Sauce
1. Combine maple syrup and 1/4 cup butter and cook over low heat until butter is melted
2. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved and remove from heat
3. Beat in cream cheese and maple extract until smooth
4. Heat again in the microwave until it reaches a desired consistency
Serve with ice cream :)
